D. I. Y. Air Fresheners

Raise your hand if you're a Daiso kaki like me!

Since the husband has been working as an Uber driver, sometimes he gets stinky riders and they leave unpleasant smell in the car. According to him, it affects his rating greatly.

He then bought some car freshener but the strong smell would leave him feeling uncomfortable and dizzy.

So, thanks to Pinterest again, I collected some ideas and DIY 2 types of air freshener for him and you can get almost everything from Daiso!



So here's what I got:

1 bottle of vodka - rm4.95
1 box (30 pieces) of wool felt balls - rm5.30
1 spray bottle - rm5.30
1 bottle of essentialoil  of your choice - rm5.30

Total - rm20.85

You can get a bottle of cheap vodka from any liquor stall. I got mine from Aeon.

The first air freshener I'm gonna show you is made with wool felt balls that you can hang in your car.

1) Thread your needle. Tie a knot at the end of the thread.

2) Begin threading felt balls onto the thread, one at a time. For a larger circle, add more balls. I used 9 balls.

 3) Once you are happy with the size of your circle, sew the two end balls together and tie them off.



4 ) Add two drops of whatever essential oils on each of your felt balls.  To start, I used Grapefruit essence because I love the way it smells and it helps increase alertness, which is great for my long (jammed) trips in my car.



5) Tie a 10 inch to 12 inch length of 1/4 ribbon to your circle of felt balls. This will enable you to hang it from your rear-view mirror.  You can see the drops of oil on the balls, but once the oil dries, it’s not visible at all! 

That’s it! How cute is that?! And I love that I am freshening the air in my car in a totally natural way. You can hang this in your wardrobe too! The fragrance will last for about 2 weeks. After the fragrance faded, just add more drops of essential oil and reuse it again. Eco friendly, too, isn't it?  This would also make a great gift for your friends and family.

Next, Imma show you how to make a spray air freshener. This is gonna be so simple!

Just simply pour the whole bottle of vodka into a spray bottle and mix with 10 to 15 drops of essential oil and tadaaaaa~ DONE!

If you don't feel comfortable with all the alcohol, you can also mix 3/4 of water with 1/4 of vodka, then add in your essential oil. Use it and spray into any area for a good refreshing smell. When Charlotte grows up and is afraid of monsters hiding under her bed one day, I'll make this bottle and label it and Monster Chaser lol. To freshen up her room and chase away imaginary monsters (bacteria) at the same time!

Breast Milk Lotion

I'm a normal yield mom. I let Charlotte direct latch all the time and currently only pump once every morning. I yield an average of 4oz after pumping for half an hour every day. Sometimes lesser sometimes more.

People often question why do I still pump since I'm not giving her the bottle. Well, I plan to at least breastfeed Charlotte for one year. And since milk is her main food intake, I wanna make sure that she has sufficient milk just in case of any emergency.

Like last month, I was diagnosed with dengue. I thought the expressed breast milk will finally serve it's purpose. But I pushed myself to continue breastfeeding until I got well.

Anyway, those expressed milk eventually filled up all the space in my freezer. So I donated.

Here are 17 packets of expressed milk dated August to November. About 8oz each. I donated them to a confinement center that supports breastfeeding. This is the second time I donate them.

I kept at least 20 packets with me. But I know soon I might give away again.

Then one day I came across this Breast milk lotion recipe. Well, basically it's to turn your breast milk into lotion la.

New research has proven that breast milk, made into a lotion, is the latest alternative form of treatment for eczema, psoriasis, sunburns and itchy dry skin. Although the idea of rubbing breast milk on your skin may seem a bit unconventional and eerie  (according to the husband), it is proven to be a safe and sometime superior treatment to other medicinal options. The antibodies found in breast milk will help aid the infection.

To make breast milk lotion, the ingredients you need are:

- 3 ounces of breastmilk
- 3 ounces oil (grapeseed oil for sensitive skin)
- 1 tablespoon of beeswax
- a few drops of Vitamin E oil (optional)

I used 6 oz of frozen breastmilk so just double everything else will do.

Below are the steps:

1. Heat grapeseed oil in low heat temperature to melt the beeswax.
2. After the beeswax is melted, slowly pour in the room temperature breastmilk and Vitamin E oil and whisk rapidly until thickens.
3. Pour into shallow jars or lotion tubs. It will continue to thicken as it cools. Refrigerate and use for up to 3 months.

Done! Easy isn't it?

Sorry no picture of the process cause erm I was busy whisking and doubting the recipe, thinking if it really works cause milk and oil are immiscible liquids lol. It took some time and eventually mixed well and thicken so don't worry k!

The Giving Plate

Pinterest is my new best friend!

Ever since I've befriended with Pinterest, I've found numerous ideas to occupy Charlotte, made DIY toys, and collected creative ideas to make gifts for various occasions.

I'm meeting my best friend, Peggy, at her new home today. Since we're bffs and have known each others for 19 years, I seriously thought of going empty handed lol. But then I came across this DIY gift on Pinterest and it's called The Giving Plate, and I immediately like the idea of it.

Here is how it looks like.


It's personal and still practically useful!

So I decided to make one.

The things you need to make The Giving Plate are

❤ a plate
❤ porcelain painters (I used black and pink)
❤ an oven

I got the plate from Robinson and the porcelain painters from Art Friend at The Garden's Mall. The plate cost RM32 and the painters cost RM15 each.

Next, copy those words onto the plate! But my writings were too big so I cut short a few lines.

After you're done, pop it into the oven.



The instruction given was on the painter.



160 °C for 30 minutes.

While waiting for the ink to be permanently sealed on the plate, quickly attend to a crying baby. If you don't have a crying baby waiting for you, go on and do whatever pleases you lol.

After 30 minutes...
